Lincoln Gentlemen Pensioners

My gaming group is a loose affiliation of wargames located in the Canterbury area of New Zealand. Specifically in the towns of Lincoln and Rolleston, as well as the nearby city of Christchurch. The name of our group has its inspiration in the Gentlemen Pensioners, a bodyguard for the English sovereign who last saw service at the Battle of Edgehill in 1642.

Meetings are best described as irregular, but occur at various members homes. Larger gatherings tend to occur in Lincoln, typically on a Friday evening. Occasionally larger games are hosted on a weekend.

A Wings of War engagement underway

Games or periods played are extensive and include, but are not limited to: Ancients; Renaissance; Horse & Musket (SYW, Napoleonic, ACW & FPW); Great War; World War II (both land & naval) & Moderns. Scales used include 6mm, 15mm and 25mm depending on different players preferences or collections.

Our main means of communication is by the Lincoln Gentlemen Pensioners Mailing list. This mailing list is open to like minded gamers, some of whom may not even attend our meetings. Indeed, many of the members of our group are based around New Zealand with even a couple based in Europe. This mailing list provides a great way for our group to discuss wargaming projects, military history and arrange games. If you would like to join this list feel free to subscribe. I am sure you will be most welcome. If you are in the Lincoln or Christchurch area this list provides a great way to introduce yourself to other locals and perhaps arrange a wargame.
