Battles in Bohemia

January has seen a diverse series of games that have ranged from Ancient Rome through to the Napoleonic Wars. It has also provided an opportunity for my first Seven Years War battle of the year. Specifically the Battle of Kralkov, a fictional engagement set in 1757 which was, without doubt, a stirring encounter.

My Seven Years War armies are still relatively small and consist of Austrians and Prussians which I am slowly supplementing to allow a refight of the Battle of Kolin. Despite the current numerical limitations of my collection the Seven Years War encounters played have been outstanding – the latest engagement being no exception. Determined advances, dramatic charges and equally gallant counterattacks have provided plenty of drama on the table.

Unsurprisingly, at least for regular readers, the game was fought with Volley and Bayonet and used 6mm miniatures.

If you would like to read the game summary, with a good number of supporting photos, head over to the “On Campaign with Volley & Bayonet” site where I document my various Volley & Bayonet game reports. You can find the Battle of Kralkov here.
